Long Rongxu was born in 1949 in Nanjing, China. He graduated from Nanjing Art Academy in 1976. In 1986 he was invited to the Art Department of Montana State University as a visiting scholar. There he engaged in art research and creation for three years. He moved to Seattle in 1989. He is a member of the Puget Sound Painters Group and a director of Washington Oversea Chinese Artists Association.

From years of experimenting, Rongxu created the "Intoxicated Ink" color technique. His gouache painting "Cellist" was selected as the cover page of American nationwide "Artists" magazine.

His paintings have been collected by many public and private companies. Nordstorm Corporation has seven of his large oil paintings.
